Well, thanks for coming over to read my blog...this is actually my 'personal' blog site, but until the real DZDAP site is up and running, I thought I'd make a few comments about the Cocktail Party, and Fundraiser we had last week for Drew and the new Album Project, and some other stuff...
In fact we ARE designing a full-on website where people will be able to track the progress of DZDAP, purchase t-shirts, hats, guitar picks and other 'merch'....and folks will be able to interact with Drew, the production team, make comments, meet each other, see what musicians are on the project, and generally participate in the project to a great degree. It is really important to us that Drew's friends and Fans share in the excitement and progress of the adventure...
So we had this 'party' last Monday night.
As a bit of 'backstory', DZDAP was set up by a 'Board' that is made up of close friends of Drew - some of us go back over 30 years with him...in fact we ALL go back at least 30 years with Drew...and we all love the guy. We've enjoyed his music, his friendship and his humor for such a long time, we thought it was absurd that a guy as talented as Drew did not have his own CDs as a 'leader'. Well a LOT of folks think that, don't WE? Yes. And a lot of us have thought this for a lot of years, right? Yes. Right!
So we decided to do something about it...finally...we decided to walk the walk. So we set up this Board...sorry, I digress...
...and the Board decided to start the ball rolling with a Cocktail Party here in NYC to officially launch the project and get some people interested in helping us financially. You see, after MANY meetings with the board and, in my case, about three years of research, we of course want to make a great CD...but we also want to create an entire DVD of the project that will chronicle its path, the entire adventure...we basically want Drew to be a BRAND...tours, youtube lessons and clinics...all SORTS of stuff in mind. And this takes a bunch of bread, right? Right. YES !!
The Party was held at the home of one of our Board members (all of whom will be named later, once the site is up) on a particularly lovely NYC evening, out on a terrace overlooking the East River. There were a good 40 or so people in attendance...friends, fans, lawyers, PR people, musicians, promoters...all sorts. But ALL folks that love Drew's music.
There was a good deal of talking...just a tad of Patron...lots of music (thanks to Chris Zingg, DZ's brother who provided a KILLER audio CD of some of Drew's greatest 'hits' !!)...a few speeches and toasts...and then, a BUNCH of checks to get things started. We did well.
We've created a way for people to 'buy in' to the project on any number of levels, from just buying merch to actually investing with a shared % of 'back end'. And we've done all of this with the assistance of two Entertainment Attorneys. Not kidding around here. All of this info is ALSO going to be posted in about two weeks on the new site - 'tiers' of investment if you will...
I have had a lot of people ask me when they can buy stuff...or how they can donate or even invest to help Drew get this project completed....ALL of that information will be available soon...once it is up and running, I will announce the new site's URL on the DZDAP page for you to come join us...buy stuff...whatever!
For now, we ask that you hang with us, continue spreading the word as you have, keep the excitement up...Drew is out on the road with Boz for seven weeks, so we've ample time to get the coffers full...and as usual, we'll be filling you in on news as the news happens...
